The Somalia Hospitals Advancement Network (SHAN) is a national not-for-profit, non-governmental, membership orgaization which is an independent entity for Medical Science Journalism Group in which serves to unify, integrate and advocate for the private health sector of Somalia with the goal of ensuring the scaling up and strengthening of health systems, thereby spurring greater investments as well as increasing access to affordable and quality accreditation nationally, regionally and globally.
Through our members, we are the voice of hospitals and health systems on the national stage after the doctor’s association.
We connect healthcare leaders, supporting them to excel through training and development. We create forums for national, regional and international, peer to peer knowledge exchange. Our events, programmes, and special interest groups showcase good practices. We work in partnership with international organizations on key issues for our members.
We provide our members with a platform for knowledge exchange and networking with different actors in the health sector. Motivated by a shared commitment to well-managed hospitals, our members act together to improve the standard, quality, and level of healthcare service delivery.
VISION
The gap in health outcomes between marginalized or poor populations and the general population is eliminated. Our vision is also a nation of healthy communities served by well-managed hospitals and healthcare services, where individuals can reach their highest potential for health.

Expand equitable access to quality health systems for marginalized and poor communities. We connect healthcare leaders through national, regional and international knowledge exchange and showcasing good practices.
The Somalia Hospitals Advancement Network (SHAN) is the only organization solely dedicated to professionals involved in managing and directing security and safety programs in healthcare facilities. SHAN is a professional association with around than 100 members who are healthcare centers.
